Description:

A tour of Bucharest’s major tourist sights like Parliament Palace – second largest building from the world, Village Museum, Royal Palace, Old District and more…

Duration: aprox: 6/7 hours

Itinerary:

Pick up from your location in Bucharest and start to explore the capital of Romania.

First stop at Village Museum, lying in a specific romanian setting, on the Herãstrãu lake shore in Bucharest, is one of the biggest and the oldest outdoors museum in Europe. Its exibits – genuinemonuments including houses, pens, churches, water and wind mills, cloth mills, of great historic and artistic value – acquaint the visitors in two hours with the specific of the Romanian village. The objects inside the households – carpets, pottery, rugs, icons, furniture – point to the originality of the folk creation, the sensibility and care for the beauty of the rural people.

Than we’ll start a panoramic tour of the most important sites and areas from the city such as: Triumph Arch, Victory Square, Magheru Avenue (comercial street), Royal Palace (nowdays the seat of National Art Museum – optional visit), Atheneum, Revolution Square, Calea Victoriei Avenue, Unirii Square, Parliament Palace, a “giant” built during the “golden age” of the dictatorial regime and born in the mind of a man for whom the notion of “reasonable size” did not exist. The Guiness Book of World Records lists the building in second place according to its 330,000 sq.m. surface, that is after the Pentagon building, and in third place according to its 2,550,000 c.m. volume.

Near to the Parliament Palace is the “Mitropoliei” Hill where we can visit the Mitropoliei Cathedral the seat of the Orthodox RomanianChurch. Next a short walkink at the Old Princely Court. The first local place of residence was built during the rule of Vlad the Impaler in the 15th century and Radu cel Frumos moved the princely residence and the Wallachain capital to Bucharest. In the 16th century Mircea Ciobanul rebuilt it completely and afterward it became the nucleus of the Bucharest, being surrounded by the houses of traders and craftsmen.

Than return in the Old District for a walking tour: Lipscani street, Stavropolus church, Capsa Hotel, Manuc Inn, a.s.o.

The best way to end the day is with a dinner in a character restaurant such as: “Carul cu bere”, “Manuc” Restaurant, Restaurant Club Dracula. Drop off at your location in Bucharest.
